To all our Huntingdon County friends, please read this and spread the information.

At the commissioner's meeting on April 17th, it was discussed that the commissioners (Gary O'Korn, and Jeff Thomas for, Dean Fluke opposed) are going to hold a public meeting to explore raising the property evaluation ratio of assessed value from 40% to 80%. What this means is that, because the state law only allows a 30 mil county tax, the commissioners could (they say they will not) DOUBLE county taxes in time. By changing from 40 to 80 the current millage would be cut in half in order to keep the same revenues, BUT will allow tax increases up to 24 mils (the same as 48 mils under the current ratio) WITHOUT the Judges approval.

Please watch for further information, and attend the public meeting to express your views.

 STATEMENT ON FRACKING:

"The Tea Party Patriots of Huntingdon County wish to make it clear to our elected officials and to the general public that we believe that it is imperative that the Marcellus Shale gas deposits be harvested, but ONLY after ensuring that our WATER SUPPLY (both surface and underground) is ABSOUTELY PROTECTED. We ask the regulatory agencies to err on the side of caution, not on the side of production."
